The Importance of Volunteers at JHS
Like many non-profit organizations, the John Howard Society counts on its volunteers to help fulfill its mission to make a difference in the community. With a strong volunteer team, we can explore projects that bring the Society into new areas of growth and support, utilizing and reinforcing the unique skills each volunteer brings with them as they expand their career-related experience.
Requirements
Volunteers must be at least 18 years old and interested in sharing their time, knowledge and experience with those previously, presently or potentially involved in the criminal justice process.
Volunteers are well-supported and supervised.
All volunteers must adhere to the following obligations:
- Provide a criminal record check
- Commit to a minimum of 3 hours per week for six months to one year
- Sign a Volunteer Agreement
- Complete the volunteer orientation program
- Abide by the Mission Statement and Core Values of The John Howard Society
