Donate Your Paperbacks!

The John Howard Society of the Lower Mainland is accepting donations of paperback books to help create a library inside the Fraser Regional Correctional Centre.

At this time, the Fraser Regional Correctional Centre can only offer inmates a small selection of books, distributed by cart, to various living units. Many of these books are outdated and do not inspire inmates to read, develop literacy skills, or become better prepared for the labour market. The John Howard Community Services Office would like to help the Fraser Regional Correctional Centre develop a stand-alone library that will be filled with books for inmate use.

Our hope is that by creating a library inside the Fraser Regional Correctional Centre inmates will be inspired to read and learn, both inside the institution and upon release into the community. (All book donations must be in paperback form – hard cover books will not be accepted by the institution).

Paper backs of interest include:

  • Books for Dummies (variety of topics)
  • Stephen King
  • George Orwell
  • John Steinbeck
  • Thomas Harris
  • Sudoku & Crossword puzzles
  • Philosophy
  • Meta physics
  • Classics
  • Modern paperbacks

Donated books can be dropped off or mailed to our Community Outreach Office:
